Service Description
This reading comprehension class for students in grades 4-6 is designed to foster a love of reading, deepen understanding of texts, and equip students with the skills and strategies they need to become confident and proficient readers. Through engaging activities, meaningful discussions, and targeted instruction, students develop the ability to comprehend, analyze, and respond to a wide range of texts effectively. We will focus on the following skills: -Understanding Main Ideas -Making Inferences -Determining Author's Purpose -Summarizing -Making Predictions -Making Connections -Visualizing -Asking Questions -Analyzing Text Structure -Evaluating Evidence -Identifying Point of View -Reflecting on Reading

SERVICE DESCRIPTION • The tutor will use their certified teaching skills to the best of their ability to teach the student and guide them in improving in the skill area(s) that they are receiving tutoring support in. • The tutor will use research-based material and independent resources for tutoring sessions. o The tutor is not obligated to stay past one (1) hour after a small-group class session begins. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARTIES The tutor will/shall: prepare lessons for the sessions tailored to the skill area maintain a professional and supportive environment regularly assess the student’s progress and provide feedback • Student’s Responsibilities: The student will/shall: actively participate in class sessions complete any tasks assigned by the tutor be punctual for scheduled sessions communicate learning goals or concerns to the tutor to optimize the best learning experience CONFIDENTIALITY • The parties acknowledge that during the tutoring sessions, confidential information may be disclosed. Both parties agree to maintain the confidentiality of any personal or academic information shared during the tutoring sessions. LIABILITY • While the tutor is a certified PK-12 Educator, they cannot accept responsibility for the student’s academic performance or test scores. The responsibilities of the tutor are to help support the student’s academic growth and success to the best of their abilities – based on the tutor’s skill, knowledge, and experience in the teaching field. The tutor does not guarantee specific academic results or improvements in the student’s performance as a result of the tutoring services. • The effectiveness of the small group class-sessions is based on various factors, including the student’s dedication, effort, and individual learning abilities. The student acknowledges that the ultimate responsibility for their academic performance and achievements lies with them. The tutor can provide guidance, support, and expertise, but the student must actively participate and commit to the learning process. CANCELLATION/NO-SHOW/RESCHEDULING • Class will begin and end class promptly as scheduled. • If the student needs to cancel a session, they will do so on the website at least 12 hours before the session. Credit for the session will be added to the student’s account balance. • If the student is a no-show to a session, they will not receive credit for the session. No refunds will be given for the missed session.
