Education & Experience

Miss Jessi B.

I’m Miss Jessi B, and I’m currently in my 11th year of teaching students who find reading and writing challenging. Throughout my career, I’ve worked primarily with learners who need extra support, patience, and encouragement to build confidence in their literacy skills.

I began my teaching career in 2015 as a reading specialist, where I was trained to use research-based intervention programs with students in grades K–5. A few years later, I transitioned into the online teaching world as a 5th-grade special education teacher. I believe it was that shift that changed everything for me. In 2019, I made tutoring business cards simply to support students on the side. It wasn’t yet an online business, but it was the moment the wheels started turning, and a dream began to take root.

What I’ve learned over the years is that many children who struggle with reading aren’t lacking ability, they’re lacking the right environment. I’ve worked with students who felt discouraged, anxious, or “behind,” and I’ve seen how much can change when learning feels calm, personalized, and pressure-free.

Reading and writing have always been therapeutic for me. They were places of comfort, expression, and understanding when I needed them most. Being able to help children discover those same tools (at their own pace and in their own way) is the most rewarding part of what I do.

My goal is simple: to help students grow strong roots in reading and writing while feeling supported, capable, and proud of themselves along the way.

If your child has ever felt frustrated, discouraged, or unsure of themselves as a reader, know you’re not alone, and neither are they.
